Local Weight Watchers members competed in a five-week challenge in which members pledged to donate items to the food bank to match the weight they lost during the period from Oct. 14 - Nov. 18.

Over the five-week period Campbell River members lost a total of 588.8 pounds and food donations totalled over 680.8 pounds, along with a $40 donation.

The fourth annual Lose for Good Campaign benefits food banks across the country.

A total of 870,000 individuals visit food banks each year and Weight Watchers wanted to get involved and do its part.

In Campbell River, Weight Watchers offers four meetings held at the Maritime Heritage Centre across from Discovery Pier.
