The Campbell River RCMP is inviting community members to volunteer for its Citizens on Patrol (COP) program.
“Volunteering with COP offers residents a meaningful way to contribute to the safety and well-being of their neighborhoods. No policing experience is necessary – just a commitment to making a positive difference," say the RCMP in an May 20 media release.
Program participants receive training, ongoing support, and the opportunity to work alongside like-minded individuals who care deeply about their community, say the RCMP. “Whether assisting with traffic watch, reporting vandalism, Child Find programs, or supporting community events, COP members make a real difference.”
The RCMP's volunteer program enhances public safety by supporting police efforts. COP members conduct vehicle patrols, report suspicious activities, and assist at events, fostering stronger community-law enforcement relationships and promoting security.
COP members will attend the Campbell River Spring Home Show from May 23 to 25 at Strathcona Gardens to answer questions and engage with potential volunteers. Visit their display to learn more about the program.
The Campbell River RCMP detachment encourages anyone interested to contact the city detachment.
