The Eagles 3097 Ladies Auxiliary presented two cheques to two programs in the Campbell River community.
The John Howard Society's KidStart was one of the programs, receiving $260.
"Our motto, "People Helping People," could be used to describe the John Howard Society's mentoring program, KidStart," says Sharon Hippolt, president of the Ladies Auxiliary. "KidStart pairs caring adult volunteers with vulnerable children and youth a one-to-one weekly. Our donation will help fund the cost of providing a stable, long-term mentoring relationship."
The other program was the Ann Elmore House. Managed by the Campbell River and North Island Transitional Society, the Ann Elmore House is a short-term emergency shelter. It provides shelter, food, clothing and necessities for women and their children at risk of domestic violence and abuse.
The Eagles Ladies Auxiliary donated $350 to the Ann Elmore House.
