The Campbell River Eagles Auxiliary donated $1,300 to the Salvation Army on June 12.

“This award will send two children to Camp Sunrise on Gabriola Island for a week where they can meet new friends and learn camp skills," said Captain Violet Hopkins of the Salvation Island.

The money is enough to send two kids to the camp. The Salvation Army operates Camp Sunrise. It's a summer overnight camp and has activities such as a zip line, a climbing wall, a ropes course, archery and more.

"The Auxiliary is pleased to support kids at play with opportunities they may not have had otherwise," said Catherine McKenzie, a spokesperson for the Eagles.
