Campbell River-based Brian Barker Squadron hosts ceremonial review

Annual event to celebrate the end of Army Cadets year and all they have achieved

On June 3, the 363 Captain Brian Barker Squadron of Campbell River hosted a joint Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) with the 2943 Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) Army Cadet Corps.

The review was to celebrate the end of their cadet year and all that they have achieved.

The reviewing party for the event consisted of the Reviewing Officer, Corporal Matthew Shearer, RCMP; Army Area Elemental Advisor for Vancouver Island, Major Madeleine Dahl; Warrant Officer First Class Isabelle Laurin; Captain Clark Davidsen, Captain Peter Grace, and British Columbia Provincial Committee League Representative, Douglas Slowski of the Air Cadet League of Canada.

Awards presented included the Lord Strathcona Medal, which is the highest honour bestowed upon cadets. It was awarded to both 363 Cadet Flight Sergeant (FSgt) Lokyin Wong and 2943 Cadet Warrant Officer Ruth Warkentin. 363 Cadet FSgt Ethan Hart received Cadet of the Year. 2943 Cadet Master Warrant Officer Jean-Samuel Bolduc received The Eeva Macloclen (Haakala) Esprit de Corps award.

The end of year ACR is the Cadets’ time to shine by showing off advancements gained throughout the year via their parade and displays.They can show off the knowledge, drill and skills they have gained through the year. Cadets also get recognized for exemplary performance where they have gone above and beyond in leadership, esprit de corps and community service. The cadets are all looking forward to returning in fall for the start of a new training year.
