Shayleen Harris, Cameryn’s mother, founded the Society in Cameryn’s memory to help local families reach lifesaving medical treatment beyond Campbell River.
“Cameryn’s Cause provides financial assistance to local families who have a child with a life-threatening illness, or acute illness or injury, or help with expenses when a child passes away,” said Harris. “It’s truly a community project, and we’re fortunate to live in a town that has such a generous spirit.”
Since its inception, Cameryn’s Cause has helped support 80 other Campbell River families.
It has also provided financial aid for the funerals of eight children. Supported by a seven-member board of directors and dozens of volunteers, Cameryn’s Cause hosts a wide variety of fundraising events.
