The Rotary Club of Campbell River is once again holding its pumpkin art fundraiser called “Pumpkins for Polio,” which raises money to help eliminate polio around the globe.
The club is seeking local volunteers to paint and decorate pumpkins, as well as create other autumn-themed art. These items will be sold at the Rotary Club's auction on Oct. 29 at the Riptide Marine Pub.
At the 2023 auction, the club said it raised $3,885 which goes to the Rotary polio eradication fund. All funds raised are matched and provided to the Rotary Foundation.
"These pumpkins are always a hit at the auction and well enjoyed by the successful bidders," reads a letter from the rotary club to the Campbell River Arts Council.
The club invites volunteers to contribute any fall-themed painted pumpkins or art pieces crafted from durable materials like wood, metal, clay, glass, or other long-lasting material.
Fall paintings are also popular auction items, the rotary says. These extra items, alongside the pumpkins, have resulted in increased auction earnings.
