The race is on to win the great Scrap Metal Challenge.

The Campbell River Hospital Foundation’s latest fundraiser is underway and local organizations are battling it out.

Finning Canada, AJ Forsyth (division of Russel Metals), Nyrstar Myra Falls and the City of Campbell River are going head-to-head in a friendly competition to donate the most scrap metal, with proceeds going to the Hospital Foundation.

The winner will receive a trophy made by MacTavish Welding out of an old kitchen sink. The winner will be announced at the end of June on air by the Eagle 97.3 FM.

The community is also invited to get involved in the challenge by dropping off scraps at one of two community bins located at ABC Recycling (4318 Terminal Place) and the city’s Dogwood Operations Centre (385 S. Dogwood).
