The Campbell River Economic Development Corporation (Rivercorp) has formed a Tourism Leadership Committee.
In the latter part of 2013, Rivercorp convened several meetings with regional tourism stakeholders and operators to seek input and feedback on the future of tourism in the region. One result of these meetings was the decision to form a Tourism Leadership Committee. The Tourism Leadership Committee will actively communicate with regional tourism industry stakeholders and operators, and provide guidance and input into market planning for Rivercorp’s external marketing arm, Tourism Campbell River and Region.
“Tourism Campbell River and Region is a regional tourism destination marketing organization with stakeholders from Cortes Island to Kyuquot. The Tourism Leadership Committee gives Tourism Campbell River and Region an active channel for peer-to-peer communication with tourism operators and stakeholders across the region.” – Vic Goodman, CEO, Campbell River Economic Development Corporation
The new Tourism Leadership Committee members are Jodi Simkin (Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre), Greg Fossen (Travelodge Hotel), Carmen Amberson (Dolphins Resort), Kerry Amos (Tyee Marine), Rachel Wiley (Discovery Harbour Marina), Jack Springer (Hurricane Jack Adventures) and Mariana Gabilondo (Gowland Harbour Resort). Committee members represent seven primary tourism sectors, specifically: Attraction/Events; Large Accommodations (>30 rooms); Small Accommodations (<30 room, B&Bs, campgrounds); Retail; Transportation; Adventure/Recreation; and Food and Beverage.
The inaugural meeting of the Tourism Leadership Committee was held at the Enterprise Centre on March 28, 2014. For more information about the Campbell River Economic Development Corporation or Tourism Campbell River and Region visit www.rivercorp.ca.
