You’ve only got a few more days to add your photographic genius to the ongoing promotion of the town you love.

The 2014 Discover Campbell River photo contest, a cooperative effort between Tourism Campbell River and Rivercorp, closes this Friday, so you still have the chance to showcase your images of the area to the world as part of the coming year’s promotional material for the region.

According to Teresa Davis, Tourism Manager with Rivercorp, the contest is not only designed to generate content for their published promotional material, but also to help engage the community itself and tap into the regional pride of the area.

So what are they still looking for in terms of submissions?

“What we don’t have very many of,” according to Andrea Knowles of Rivercorp, who is helping judge the contest, “are pictures of the community, or things happening in the community, or different landmarks within the community. We have a lot of shots looking out from the community, but not many looking in.”

Prize packages for the winning submissions are substantial. The grand prize package is values at over $1,400 and includes a one night’s stay, three course dinner and breakfast for two at Dolphins Resort and Angler’s Dining Room, a whale watching tour, a guided fishing trip and passes to the Campbell River Museum. The second-place package, valued at over $1,000, includes a weekend at Painter’s Lodge, a night in a private cabin at Heriot Bay, and three days of car rental from Budget Car & Truck Rental.
