Career Fair bus service makes access to employers easier

You want to go to the Black Press Extreme Career Fair in Courtenay, but you live in Campbell River?

No worries. We’ve got you covered.

In an effort to connect the most employers, employees, post-secondary institutes and potential students possible, Black Press has arranged free shuttle service to and from the Feb. 9 event at the Florence Filberg Centre in downtown Courtenay,

The free shuttle will pick you up at Campbell River Community Centre and have you at the Black Press Career Fair in 45 minutes.

Buses are scheduled to depart from the Campbell River Community Centre at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Buses head back to Campbell River at noon, 2 and 4 p.m.

Leave the driving to us. All you have to do is come prepared to meet your prospective employer, or prospective college administration team.

Dress as you would for any interview, and be prepared to have on-the-spot consults.

The Black Press Extreme Career Fair will be the largest of its kind, in the Comox Valley, featuring more than 80 major Vancouver Island employers and colleges.

Organizers are expecting 5,000 to 8,000 attendees, from Nanaimo to Port Hardy including local students, grads, unemployed and new career searchers looking for a better or new opportunity.

Black Press is marketing the Career Fair through its digital and print avenues Island-wide to properly address all Vancouver Island communities, attracting the most qualified, skilled professionals.

“We have a national recruitment department that centralizes its entire focus around best servicing B.C. businesses and colleges in advertising in our communities, to students and qualified recruits,” said Kristy O’Connor, Black Press manager of digital sales and Career Fair initiatives. “The Extreme Career Fair is just another great Black Press initiative.”

There will be free local and long-distance shuttle services available to ensure anyone interested in attending the event can do so.

The Black Press Extreme Career Fair takes place Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Florence Filberg Centre and Native Sons Hall in Courtenay.
