Campbell River smokery scores with San Francisco 49ers’ owners

Flurer Smokery Ltd. had their products sampled at 38th Annual Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco

Campbell River’s Flurer Smokery Ltd. was invited to have their products sampled at the province of British Columbia’s booth in the 38th Annual Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco on Jan 20-22.

Brian and Kelly Flurer attended the show returning back Jan 24.  There was over 4,500 vendors with fancy foods from around the world.  This is the first year Flurer Smokery Ltd. was invited to showcase their Gourmet Hot Smoked Salmon (Fins).

“It was quite overwhelming with all the foodies that attended,” Kelly said. “We estimate that over 60 people that dropped by our booth said we were best bite in the whole show.  From investors to caterers our company was well received.  One of the top caterers actually brought samples to the owners of the San Francisco 49ers (Denise and John York).  The owners loved the samples asking where the product came from.  The caterer then said a small company on a small island in B.C.  The owners then said tell the company that they are now the unofficial supplier of the San Francisco 49ers.

“While attending the show we were honored to have a short interview with Consulate General, Cassie Doyle.  The Winter Fancy Food Show was an amazing international forum and we are now receiving inquires from companies abroad.”

Flurer Smokery is a federally registered and HACCP-certified smokery and a private, Aboriginal-owned company that is now moving into its fourth year of business.
