The first Wilroc Lite main event of the season was held Saturday at Saratoga Speedway. Jeff Montgomery came away with the win.

Mother Nature was finally kind to the open-wheeled classes as Saratoga Speedway for the first time in the 2016 season, bringing out a full field of 13 cars. Accompanying them were the I.M.C.A Modifieds, Bomber cars and the Roadrunners who all hadn’t raced in nearly a month.

All classes were awarded dashes on Saturday with wins going to Darrel Larson, Tristen Zeinstra, Dano Bryant, Shane Woolcock, and Mike Haslam.

As the clouds faded away, track conditions were near perfect going into the heats, which would see Bryant, Haslam and Larson once again take home wins in their respective classes, battling their ways into the lead early to take home their second wins of the night.

The final heat race of the night would see Jeff Montgomery tear up the track, flying his way into victory square.

Twelve laps were awarded to the Bomber cars for their main event, which would see Larson once again jump into an early lead. He would not be pressured from there, cruising his way to his third win of the evening.

A six car Roadrunner field were given 15 laps, and Devon Degraag once again jump into an early lead, immediately pressured by Zeinstra and the rest of the field. Degraag fought off the field to take home his first main event win of the year.

A very fast 30-lap Modified main event would see Bryant pull off to an early lead, but Jason Beaulieu, who was filling in for his son Chris, worked his way around the outside to grab the lead on lap 12 and he would pull away from there, taking home his first main event win in many years at Saratoga. Second place would go to Bryant and third to Travis Stevenson.

The final main event of the evening would see all 13 Wilroc Lite cars take to the track for their 30-lap main event which would see the fast group of cars jump out front early and they would battle neck and neck for the entire 30 lap race, swapping lead changes what seemed like every five laps, but the final and most important lead change would take place on lap 16 as Montgomery would pull his way into the lead and he wouldn’t look back from there, holding on to take home the first Wilroc Lite main event of the 2016 season, with second going to Ryan Orchard and third to Tim Openshaw.

Extra laps...Next weekend Saratoga Speedway will present its first Eve of Destruction night of the year. TJ Lippy will be back once again to put on yet another crazy car jump, propelling his car through another huge stack of cars. The track will also be putting on yet another School Bus race, which was a huge hit last time around.

The Galaxy Motors Mad Max Extreme racers will also be on the card for their third race of the year, with the Crash to Pass cars and the Hornet cars rounding out the field.
