Rugby 7s girls come home shield winners

The Carihi-Timberline Girls Rugby 7s team came home from the Colwood Rotary High School 7s Rugby Tournament last Friday as Shield Winners, defeating Spectrum Community School 20-10.

They fell to Belmont Secondary 31-5 in the opener and Esquimalt High 22-15 in their second match earlier in the day. All matches were held at Rugby Canada’s Centre of Excellence in Langford. Tries were scored by Samantha Atkinson (4), Kaitlyn Jinda, Lara Wehmeyer, and Tyra Schaad.
