Mount Washington Nordic ski area will see some dramatic competition from athletes of all ages Feb. 10-11 when the Strathcona Nordics Ski Club hosts the Teck Coast Cup 5 + 6 races as well as the perennial favourite, Vancouver Island Loppet.

This year’s event features an exciting mass start in Saturday’s team sprint skate ski relay on a fun, rolling course as well as a powerful endurance race in Sunday’s free technique Loppet.

Although Nordic skiers enjoy the social aspect of their sport, events like these bring out a competitive athleticism and a sense of team spirit. While there is hot competition to see which lords and ladies of the mountain will lead the 30km Loppet course, the SNSC is also offering a participation category with unlisted completion times. The event is open to everyone, from beginning children and their parents to athletic racing team skiers and masters.

Deadline for entry is 12 noon Wednesday, Feb. 7. Registration is $15/adult, $10/child at Zone 4 https:/www.zone4.ca No race license is required.
