Mt. Washington Freestyle Ski Club sends best wishes to Island athletes

Athletes and family members of the Mount Washington Freestyle Club (MWFC) gathered on the weekend to send their best wishes to Comox’ Cassie Sharpe, women’s halfpipe skier and Campbell River’s Teal Harle, men’s slopestyle skier, who will be representing Canada at the Winter Olympic in Pyeong Chang, South Korea.

Athletes and family members of the Mount Washington Freestyle Club (MWFC) gathered on the weekend to send their best wishes to Comox’ Cassie Sharpe, women’s halfpipe skier and Campbell River’s Teal Harle, men’s slopestyle skier, who will be representing Canada at the Winter Olympic in Pyeong Chang, South Korea.

These two athletes began their freestyle training with the Mount Washington Freestyle Club and have both gone on to win a variety of World Championship events. The MWFC has been following them closely and celebrating their successes all year.

The club also extended a shout out to the three other athletes from Vancouver Island, Spencer O’Brien (women’s snowboard slopestyle), Carle Brenneman (women’s snowboard cross), and Megan Tandy (women’s biathalon).

From March 29 to April 1, Mount Washington Freestyle Club, with the support of the Mount Washington Alpine resort ,will host the BC Timber Tour 3 competition. Athletes from clubs across BC will compete in three disciplines; moguls, slopestyle, and big air. This event will be the final in a series of provincial freestyle events and will host more than 120 freestyle skiers.
