After a five-year hiatus junior lacrosse is coming back to the North Island.
This spring, the Campbell River Junior B Ravens will be returning to Strathcona Gardens.
The team will be competing against four other Island communities in the Pacific Northwest Junior Lacrosse League (PNWJLL) for the upcoming 2017 season.
Head coach Reg Elgie and assistant Mac Maier began dry-land training last week with an enthusiastic group of young men from the Campbell River and Comox Valley area.
The North Island has consistently produced exceptional lacrosse players through their respective minor associations.
Now these talented young men have the opportunity to continue playing the sport they love in front of their hometown fans.
Over the next few weeks Elgie and Maier will be working with and evaluating these 17-21 year-olds before determining the roster that will take to the floor for the season opener on May 1.
Box lacrosse is defined by extreme skill, blazing speed and bone-crunching contact. It is a fast-paced, high energy game that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you’re a fan who has enjoyed junior lacrosse in the past we hope to see you back.
If you’ve never been to a live game consider coming out and supporting these talented local athletes as they play “the fastest game on two feet.”
You will not find more entertaining fun for the five dollar cost of admission anywhere (minor players wearing team jerseys get in for free).
