The Snow to Surf format will see the same intense competition as ever.

Changes coming to annual Royal LePage Snow to Surf classic

Canada’s oldest and best multi-sport relay, the Royal LePage Snow to Surf has changes coming that’ll add to the lustre of the event and it’s reputation as the first, fastest and funnest event of it’s kind in Canada.

First is the elimination of the Snowshoe Leg. For four years team captains had to scramble to find 10 members at a time when even rounding up nine racers could be tough. One positive “knock-on’ is a reduction to the overall entry fee. A great pastime, you bet! A competitive addition to RLPS2S – not so much. So look for a return to the earlier format with a splashing finish at Comox Marina.

Change happens. Two Race Bosses that were responsible for course safety and race have packed it in, leaving the Mountain Bike and Road Bike legs looking for new leadership. Both the retirees have left strong systems in place and both have volunteered to lend their expertise to incoming Race Bosses. The longevity of members of the Royal LePage Snow to Surf team points to the satisfaction that comes from a front row seat at the race and the pleasure of working with a highly coordinated committee. Royal LePage Snow to Surf participants are not shrinking violets when it comes to making their needs known. A cry for return to some of the feature of past years has reverberated in the ears of the race committee.

Better late than never the organizers calling for local artists and would be graphic designers to submit their designs for Race Shirts. Designs can be be emailed to info@snowtosurf.com or dropped off at the office of Royal LePage Comox Valley.

And, locally crafted prizes return to Comox Marina Park in 2017 as well. Submissions for these can be presented as noted above along with the cost of the prize and delivery times.
