Eight zones and their best female soccer players from all over B.C. were represented in three days of soccer at this year’s BC Summer Games.

The Vancouver Island/Coast team was made up of athletes from up and down the Island and the coast. In particular, three athletes from Campbell River – Charlie Borrie, defender;  Kaitlyn Dreger (pictured left), midfielder, and Rowen Flood, goalkeeper – were key to the success of the team.

The “Islanders” went undefeated in their pool with two wins and a tie. Playing with high energy and tenacity, the Vancouver Island girls went on to play the Gold medal game against Fraser Valley.  Spectators witnessed the best of B.C.’s female soccer players playing a head-to-head.

Tough competition from Zone 3 Fraser Valley ended the game with the Islander’s only loss of the tournament, 2-0; resulting in Vancouver Island/Coast earning a silver medal.
