Hurricanes Blank Cowichan Valley 5-0

The Campbell River Peewee Hurricanes exploded for three goals in the first en route to a 5-0 whitewash of the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Sunday afternoon at Strathcona gardens rink 2.

Hurricanes opened the scoring 13:23 of the first period on an unassisted effort by Jenifer Hampton. Shayna Moen added to the Hurricanes lead at 6:49 with an assist going to Paige Beauregard. Everett Feeney pushed the lead to 3-0 at the 4:02 mark with Julianne Nelson picking up an assist.

The scoring continued in the second with Lauren Martynyk pick up a goal at 2:39 to give the Hurricanes a 4-0 lead at the end of two periods. In the third Everett Feeney scored her second of the afternoon with Julianne Nelson picking up her second assist. Ashley Hogg closed the door the rest of the way and secured her first shutout of the season. The Hurricanes sit at 4-4 on the season. Next up for the Hurricanes is the Oceanside IceBreakers tournament Dec 27-28 where they will take on the hosts Oceanside IceBreakers, Peninsula Eagles, & Cowichan Valley Capitals.
