Campbell River athletes have rhythm
Special Olympics gymnasts from Campbell River came away from the Garden City Invitational rhythmic gymnastics meet in Victoria on Sunday with some top performances.
Four disciplines are involved in rhythmic gymnastics – rope, hoop, ball and ribbon. The athletes can compete in the individual disciplines or compete in all four to pursue the overall title.
Campbell River’s Jessica Sanders took first overall in Level 1 with a first place in hoop, second place in ball, second place in ribbon and fifth place in rope.
Adrienne Goodie of Campbell River won third overall in Level 1 with a second place in hoop, and third places in rope, ball and ribbon.
Other Campbell River results included Hannah Taylor placing first in ball and fourth in rope in her category; and in their categories, Tracey Stanley placed first in ball and second in rope; Debbie Lowry placed third in rope and fourth in ball; and Erika Loeb placed first in ball and third in rope.
