This has to be the Campbell River area’s most fun time of the year.

Starting off with Campbell River Salmon Derby and the Transformations on the Shore carving competition and including the spectacular Quality Foods Festival of Light fireworks and passing through the Indigenous Peoples Day, the Dragon Boat regatta, Pride Party, the Canada Day activities and more, this time of year is a big party in Campbell River.

Kudos to all the volunteer organizers of these great events. They’re a wonderful opportunity for residents to get out and mingle, have fun and celebrate what is good about living in this area.

But it also raises the thought that perhaps this could all be marketed more and draw tourists to our area just for these particular events. Of course, the focus is always on the natural beauty and outdoor activities but we can invite others to our summer kickoff parties too.
