Zeny Manlangit, beloved wife of Jose Manlangit, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family, at the Campbell River and District General Hospital on Wednesday, December 25, 2002, at the age of 56 years. She is survived by her loving husband Jose of Campbell River, BC; brothers Abraham and Florante of the Philippines; sisters Minda, Alice, and Estella of the Philippines; daughter Trisha of Calgary, AB; and son Michael of London, England. She was predeceased by her parents Gregorio and Juana Lasmarias; her brother Jaime; and her sisters Nina and Helen, all of Baroy, Lanao del Norte, Philippines. Zeny was born on January 26, 1946, in Baroy, Lanao del Norte, Philippines. She was a graduate of the Cebu Velez School of Nursing in the Philippines, and practiced nursing throughout various locales in the Philippines and North America. Zeny had worked at Saint Mary’s Hospital-Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and Highland Park Hospital in Detroit, MI. In 1974, Zeny followed her love, Jose, to Kitimat, BC, where they married and began a family. In 1982, after a brief period in Prince Rupert, BC, Zeny and her family settled in Campbell River. She worked at the Campbell River and District General Hospital as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 2001. Zeny will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. She was a devoted mother, a loving wife, and a caring friend; well loved by all who know her. Special thanks to Home Care Nurses Deb and Tracy; all the Home Support workers, especially Lisa, Jen and Gail; the nurses of 3N; Dr. Carswell and Dr. Lowry; the Filipino community; and all friends and family who have been so supportive over the past few months. Memorial Services were held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church on Sunday, December 29, 2002 and Monday, December 30, 2002. ISLAND FUNERAL & CREMATION SER-VICES, 103-909 Island Highway, entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1423-B 16th Avenue, Campbell River, BC V9W 2E4.
