Bill passed away peacefully on December 22, 2010, at the age of 86, at the Campbell River Hospital. He is predeceased by only child Patricia Smart. And survived by the love of his life, his wife Elizabeth “Betty” Doidge, son-in-law Ernie Smart (Trudy), grandchildren, Jennifer Wasilenchuk (Chris), Tricia Campbell (Adam), great grandchildren, Sophie and Heydon Campbell, sisters Doreen Albion, Joan Turner and many other loving family and friends.

Bill was born and raised in Victoria, BC, where he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served his country proud during World War II. He was sent to Winnipeg during

his service, where he met the love of his life, Betty and were happily married for 66 years. The two returned to Victoria, raised their daughter Patricia while enjoying his career working for Pacific Coach Lines. During his life he spent a lot of time in the Sooke area ? shing the Juan de Fuca. He was not only an avid fisherman he loved to hunt and was able to go one last time at the age of 85. For years his summers were spent with family and friends at Lake Cowichan. Bill and Betty were also round dancers, they danced together as one for many years.

Bill you will be greatly missed by so many as you always had a great story to tell and a smile that everyone loved. Our memories with you will never be forgotten, we love you so much. We were so blessed to have you in our lives.

The family would like to thank Dr. Proctor, Dr. Daniels and

the nursing staff at the Campbell River Hospital for their medical, personable and compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 7 from

1–4pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, 301–11th Avenue,

Campbell River, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
