Violet Marguerite

(1913 ~ 2006)

It is with sorrow the family announces that our mother, and Granny, Violet Marguerite Herrewig (nee Jamieson) passed away peacefully on aug. 22, 2006 in White Rock.

Violet was born in Silverdale, 1913 to Berton and Pearl Jamieson and enjoyed life to her 93rd year. Predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Mike (2000) her parents, brother Don and sisters Edna and Agnes. She is survived by her son Terry (Anne), Whiterock; daughters: Sharon (Ron), richmond, Gail (Ron) Qualicum Beach, grandchildren, Mike (Chris), Tony (Sonia) Tracy, Nicci and great grandchildren emily, Ella and Kole. Closest to Vi’s heart was her family, immediate and extended, in whom she took great pride, spending many happy hours in their company.

Vi was a life-long learner and teacher. She began teaching on Cortes Island in a little log schoolhouse in 1934 and retired in Campbell River in 1979. She valued her role as a teacher and later association with RTA #72. At the age of 90, she felt great satisfaction in receiving a RTA life membership. Vi’s passion for learning, traveling, reading and writing culminating in her yearly Christmas letters, kept her in touch all over the globe.

Vi’s enthusiasm for the communities in which she lived was reflected in her untiring work and leadership on many committees, membership in numerous organizations and support of charitable groups.

The family wishes to thank her friends and caregivers for their many kindnesses to Mom. We will miss her strength of spirit, courage to face challenges and love for all. She has left us with important life lessons. Thank you, Mom; you were a very special, gifted lady, and will remain in our hearts forever.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
