It is with great sadness that the children of Victor Deland announce the passing of their father on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 after a short and courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side. Victor will be lovingly remembered and survived by: his daughter Astrid Ludy Mennie with her husband Ryan Mennie and his upcoming first grandchild, son’s Walter Deland and Jean Pierre Deland. Victor was born in Chile. He then immigrated to Canada at age 32. Victor was an underground miner for mines in Thunder Bay, ON, Uranium City, SK, and final Myra Falls Operations in Campbell River. Retiring in March of 2002. The family wishes to extend a thank you to the Doctors and Nurses of Vancouver General Hospital- Palliative Care Unit: Dr. Hansson, Tom Smith, Bonnie, Herald, Michelle, Helga, Campbell River & District General Hospital-Palliative Care Unit: Dr. Ralston, Sue, Amber, Cinda & Patti. For those wishing to make a donation in Victor’s memory you may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society or take part in the annual Relay for Life. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Campbell River Maritime Heritage Centre on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 7p.m.
