Vernon Wellington (Duke)

Vernon was born in Milestone, Sask. on November 10, 1915 and passed away peacefully in his sleep in Sunshine Lodge on Friday, January 18, 2008. He was predeceased by his sister Lois and his brothers Cleon and Carroll. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary and 9 nieces and nephews. Vernon spent 2 years in the Canadian Army(PPCLI) then went to Ocean Falls to work where he and Mary were married in 1944. They lived there for 7 years and then moved to Campbell River where they lived ever since. Vernon was active in getting the Curling Club built and was a member of the club for many years. There will be no service at his request but a get toghether of friends and relatives will be held in Celebration of Vernon’s Life at ELK FALLS CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, Highway #28, at ELK FALLS MEMORIAL CEMETERY on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 11:00 to 2:00p.m. To the Campbell River Hospital and Sunshine Lode staff, a sincere thank you for your kindness and care of Vernon during his stay with you and bless you all. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Vernon to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation, 381-2nd Avenue, Campbell River, BC V9W 3V1 would be appreciated.
