SCOTT,

Ruth Catherine

(nee Ellis)

1932 - 2008

Ruth Scott passed away peacefully on January 26, 2008 after a brave battle with illness at the age of 75. Ruth was born to James and Mae Ellis, in Riverbend, Quebec on October 22, 1932. She spent her childhood in Quebec and Ontario, moving with her parents to Campbell River in 1952. In 1953 Ruth met the love of her life, Ken Scott, and the two married in May 1956. Together Ruth and Ken celebrated over fifty-one years of marriage that included the gift of three daughters, Heather, Beverley, and Sherrie. Ruth’s professional career was as varied as her interests, and included secretarial work for the Argonaut Mine and the School District in Campbell River, accounting at the Campbell River Credit Union, ending with her ultimate love, teaching piano until her retirement. Ruth’s personal accomplishments included receiving her A.R.C.T from the Toronto Conservatory of Music, serving as a registered music teacher, a member of Friends of Music, volunteer work for her church, and loving dedication to her children and grandchildren. She is sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her husband, Ken, daughters Heather (Pat) Finlay, Beverley (Greg) Jones, Sherrie (Ron) van Akker; her six grandchildren: Kristen, Kimberly, Stephanie, Kendra, Ryan, and James, along with many loving friends and extended family members.

A memorial service for Ruth will be held on Saturday February 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., at the Campbell River United Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Children’s Hospital, Vancouver.
