AYRE

Roy Leonard

passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 15, 2005. He was predeceased by his parents Leslie & Lillian Ayre of Brockville, Ont. Roy is survived by his wife Patricia; sons Ryan (Kelly) of Victoria, B.C. and Rick (Nancy) of Chehalis, Wa; grandchildren Adam, Coleen, Sheanna, Shamra, Brooke and Brennan; brothers Robert, Kingston, Ont. and Roger, Guelph, Ont; sisters Joyce (Bud) Lacasse, Brockville, Ont. and Sylvia (Lynn) Wilkinson, Corfu, New York; nieces and nephews Susanne, Jayne, Lesley, Bob Jr. all of Ont. and Brian of New York. Roy is also survived by his devoted sister-in-law and her husband, Joan and Ron Sellars of Campbell River.

Roy was a former member of C.R. Lions Club and past president (some years ago). As a young man Roy worked with his father in masonry and eventually became an instructor in masonry at a branch of the Kingston Penitentiary in Ont. He then moved to the West Coast in the early 1960’s, continued masonry in Victoria, eventually settled in C.R. and continued his masonry business for several years. In 1981 he decided to pursue his longtime interest in woodwork, started a cabinet shop and ran until his retirement in 1995. Roy was a kind, gentle man with a wonderful sense of humour and a great love for all creatures great and small.

A private family internment will take place at the “Serenity Walkway Scattering Garden”, Elk Falls Crematorium, followed by a gathering of family and friends in Celebration of Roy’s Life on Friday, March 4th, 2005 from 2 to 4p.m. at the Elk Falls Memorial Chapel, Elk Falls Cemetery, Highway #28 at General Hill. Island Funeral Services and Elk Falls Crematorium, 103-909 Island Highway, Campbell River entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Roy’s memory can be made to C.R. Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 811, Campbell River, B.C. V9W 6Y4 or to the North Island Seniors Home and Community Services, 110 Birch St., Campbell River, B.C. V9W 2S2 with appreciation.
