Marvin Octavius Johnson

March 29, 1932 – July 22, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Great Husband, Dad and Grandfather at the Campbell River Hospital with his loving Family at his side, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He leaves behind to mourn his passing the love of his life his Wife, Pauline, Daughters Elaine (Laurence) White, Gayle (Mark) Frankland, Tracy (Marc) McGraw, Son Ken (Jennie) Johnson, Grandchildren Jennifer (Jimmy), Jason, Bryson, Breanne, Amber, Ashleigh, Nicholas, Madeline and Great-Grandson Ryder.

Born in Dog Creek, Manitoba to Bjorn and Gudlaug Johnson, he was one of six boys. He grew up on a farm. As a young man he made his way west to Kitimat, BC where he met and married Pauline in 1959. He worked for the City of Kitimat. In 1965 he made Campbell River his home, working for McMillan Bloedel on the grade crew for 27 years until his retirement.

Dad was a Great Man; he always put others before himself. He was a devoted family man. His Wife, Kids and Grandchildren were most important to him. He was a Boy Scout Leader, avid Gardener and was known for his great sense of humour. If you lived near him he was “the man in his yard”. Even though Parkinson’s complicated his life he went on with great determination.

Thank you to Dr. James Proctor, Dr. Kask, Dr. Daniels and Dr. Hind Dr. Scovanic and Monique LaFleur- Bartlett, also the exceptional care from the 3rd floor Nursing Staff, Physio’s and O.T.’s.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Salmon Point Restaurant on August 2nd, 2009

2.00p.m. – 5.00p.m. for Family and close Friends.
