LILLIAN (LILY) JONES

July 20th 1919 – December 16th 2010

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lily Jones, beloved wife of Ernie Jones for 71 wonderful years. Lily’s warmth and humour will be deeply missed by daughters Barbara (Larry) and Wendy (Derek) and son Keith (Chris) as well as sister Jeane, her grandchildren Gary, Keith, Cate, Debby, Sharon, Andy, Ken and Jill, her 10 great grandchildren as well as the rest of the family and many friends.

Lily and Ernie emigrated from Blackpool, England in 1967 to Ontario and upon retirement in 1980 enjoyed 17 winters in Florida.

They moved to Campbell River in 1996, to escape the rest of Canada’s winters, and to join Keith and Chris’s family. Barbara and Larry followed them out shortly after. Over the years Lily and Ernie had numerous visits back to England to be with Wendy, Derek and family.

Lily started to fade over the last couple of years but she never, ever complained and always at her side was Ernie with “bags” of love and support. Lily died peacefully at home with Ernie, as always, by her side.

We will all miss her great sense of humour (“My name’s Lily NOT Silly!”), her strength, and her unconditional love and support for us all.

The pond by the 6th Green at Sequoia Springs will always be known to us as the “Lily Pond” for Mum’s misadventure with a golf cart in 2002!

We will have a celebration for Lily’s long and colourful life in the spring.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Campbell River Hospital Auxiliary.

For the friends and family of Lily please join Ernie, Barb (Larry) and Keith (Chris) for a celebration of Lily’s long and colourful life. This will be held at the Sequoia Springs Golf Club, 700 Petersen Rd., at 1:00 pm May 26, 2011.

To assist us with a “head count” please RSVP to either Barb or Keith by phone or e-mail ASAP.

Many thanks to “one and all” for the cards and donations in December and January.

Thanks, but no more for this occasion……….just bring yourselves!!

We look forward to seeing you

on Thursday, May 26.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
