Les Christina Hasiuk (nee Pankiw) born in Dufrost, Manitoba, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away suddenly but peacefully on January 2nd, 2005 in her 75th year with her loving husband and family at her side. She is survived by Nes, her devoted husband of 53 years; son Nick Hasiuk and D’arci Young; daughter Dree Pascoe and son-in-law Jon; son Stephen Hasiuk and daughter-in-law Laurie; and daughter Cynthia Dyer and son-in-law Klay; dear sister Olia Klowak (Pankiw) & brother-in-law Bernie and brother Roman Pankiw and sister-in-law Helen. Her vibrant spirit and gentle touch will be remembered always by her grandchildren Nancy, Stephanie, Andrew, Alyse, Alaina, Brenda, Ezekiel, Amelia, Lucas, Matthew, Nina, Alyssa, Aurielle, and Ashton. Les was predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Irene Pankiw, and by her sister Nina Sarkar.
Living every day with laughter and with elegance, Les inspired all who knew her with a generosity and wit that will be carried on through the lives that she touched and the stories that she told. Her love of quilting, like her garden of roses and flowers, brought much joy to her family and friends. She will be remembered always as a woman who lived a good life, a rich life, a powerful life.
Memorial Services will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican church on Saturday, January 8th, 2005 at 3:00pm. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donation be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of B.C., 1212 West Broadway, Vancouver, B.C., V6H 3V2.
