Karla (nee Killat) WAGNER

September 27, 2005

Wagner,

Karla (nee Killat)

Aug. 9, 1950 - Sept. 27, 2005

Our sweet Karla left us so suddenly, much before her time. Karla was born in East Berlin to Rudy and Brigitte Killat. She was 10 months old when they escaped to West Berlin and when she was four years, the Killats immigrated to Canada, leaving behind, all their family and friends. They eventually settled in Regina where Karla went to school and on to university to study education. Karla taught school for several years in Alberta before moving to Vancouver, where she continued teaching while taking music courses in the evening at UBC. Karla’s passion for music reflected in her singing and her piano. She taught music to her many “children” and wrote and produced plays and musicals for them to perform at concerts and on the Vancouver Carole ships at Christmas. They loved their “Mrs. Wagner”. She was a very creative person, always making and doing things for everybody. Karla radiated sunshine in her smiles and made you feel that you were very special to her. She loved to golf and go on those ‘Great Walks’ in Tahsis and Lake Cowichan with her Mom. Karla’s Mom was her best friend and together they traveled back to their native homeland in 2003, re-uniting with family and friends and having the time of their lives. Left broken hearted are her parents Brigitte and Rudi, her sister Pam and brother-in-law Fred, partner Roger, special friend Debbie in Vancouver, her Tantes and Onkels and cousins in Germany and her many wonderful friends whom she cherished. Karla affected many lives and will forever remain in our hearts.

At Karla’s request, there will be no service. Flowers are gratefully declined but donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
