July 13, 2002

ziegler,

karl Johann

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, left us suddenly after a brief illness, July 13th, 2002.

Karl was born in Nussloch, Germany November 5th, 1924 and came to Canada in 1949, soon followed by his wife Lilly. They lived in various places in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC before settling in Campbell River in 1974. Karl quickly became known as “the friendly Butcher at the Co-op”, where he worked until his retirement in 1989. Karl loved the beauty of the area and could often be found out on the chuck, fishing, and he always looked forward to his trips north to go hunting every fall. Karl also loved life, and he and his wife always kept their door open for their many friends to drop in and swap stories.

karl leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Lilly and his four daughters, Brigitte (Eugene) Cudmore, Coni Reisdorf (Cal Bencze), Maureen (James) Froome, and Rosemary (Doug) Kegler. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and their families, which includes thirteen great grandchildren. As well, his “baby”, his faithful four-legged companion Cindy. The family would like to thank Dr. Meckin, Dr. Kroeze, Dr. James and Dr. Brown as well as all the third floor nurses, especially Sue, Shauna, Darcy, Vicki, Katherine, Niccie, Sherry, Linda and Wendi for their incredible kindnesses to us all over the two weeks that Dad was ill. You make a difficult time a little easier. We also want to thank Dr. Scudamore, who gave us seven more years with Dad.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20th, 2002 at 2pm. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1935 Evergreen Road, Campbell River. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Campbell River Hospital Palliative Care Lounge Fund.
