It is with sadness that we announce the passing of John Henry Holst.

John passed away peacefully in Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake December 5, 2005 at the age of 83 with his wife Louise at his side.

John was born in Shamrock, Saskatchewan. His career took him to Vancouver Island, Hines Creek, Alberta, the Queen Charlotte Islands and finally to Williams Lake.

John was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

John will be forever remembered by his loving family: his wife of 64 years, Louise; two sons Laery (Shirley) of St. Albert, Ted of Quesnel; three daughters, Iona (John Kelly) of Maple Ridge; Beverly of Abbotsford; JoAnn (Rene Liebaert) of Parksville. He is also survived by five cherished grandchildren, Angus McKinnon of Maple Ridge, Noela (Bryan Shields) of Edmonton, Shelley Holst of Calgary, Sybil (Ryan) of New Westminster, Kyle Liebaert of Williams Lake; two brothers; Jake (Mildred) Holst of Delta, Harold Holst of Campbell River; three sisters: Clara (McQuillan) comox; Merceda (Albert Posehn) Delta, Anita Becker, Edmonton, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. York and Dr. Neufeld, the nurses and staff at CMH and the Heritage House, Jim and Marie Smith, Walter and Thelma Schmidt, Toni and Maria Camba, also all the friends and neighbours for their kindness and support.

In honour of John’s wishes there will be no formal service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cariboo Foundation Hospital Trust for the CT Scanner at Box 2562 Williams Lake, B.C. V2G 4P2.
