John Bernard Connelly, of Parksville BC, formerly of Mississauga Ontario, born in Campbellford Ont., September 7, 1922, passed away peacefully at the age of 85 with family by his side January 4, 2008. John was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years Julia Connelly, Leona Howard, spouse Craig Howard, Mary Connelly, spouse Marc Lelonde, Patrick Connelly, Michael Connelly, partner Carol Ann Burt, grandchildren Deborah McQuinn, spouse Michael McQuinn, Jennifer Mikulik, spouse Paul Mikulik, Sara Connelly, great grandchildren Jake & Shain Mikulik, Julia & Matthew McQuinn. John was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Catherine Connelly, siblings Timothy, James (Leo), Denis and Madelyn. John was a dedicated family man with a strong commitment to his family and his church. John was a World War II Veteran who participated in D-Day and served in Europe as a Rifleman with the Queen’s Own Rifles Regiment of Canada. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 49, Parksville.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to BC Heart & Stroke, BC Cancer Society, BC Lung Association and Covenant House. Visitation will be held Tuesday January 8/08 at 7 p.m. with Legion Service at Yates Funeral Chapel 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville. Prayers will be held Wednesday January 9/08 at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension with the funeral mass to follow Thursday January 10 at 11 a.m. Wembley Road Parksville. Internment will follow in the spring, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Campbellford, Ontario.
