James Richard Fleming passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Campbell River Hospital in Campbell River.

He was born on October 26, 1941 in Saskatoon, SK the son of the late Richard and Isabelle (Tolen) Fleming and had attained the age of 75 years. James married Annette Arseneault on July 14, 1986 at Prince George, BC and she survives.

Mr. Fleming worked as an engineer at Canfor Mills in Prince George for many years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Campbell River, a member of the Parksville Newcomer Alumni as well as a member of the Senior’s Center Group in Parksville. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, traveling, skiing and playing cards with friends. Spending time with family and friends were most important to him. Jim will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by son Keith Fleming of Prince George, BC; daughter, Bonnie Jean Fleming of Winfield, BC; stepson, Michael and his wife Mary-Lynn White of Calgary, AB; stepdaughters Patricia and her husband Ken Bueckert of Campbell River and Roxanne and her husband Ron Collins of Langley, BC; six grandchildren: Damien, Ben, Nathan, Wayne, Gary, Jordan and Gina; brother Ralph and his wife Lydia of Bowen Island, BC and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Blair Fleming.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Jan Grotkowski officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am until the time of service on Friday, followed by a luncheon. Private interment will be held at Elk Falls Cemetery in Campbell River.
