December 20, 1992 - September 11, 2016

It is with disbelief and immense sorrow that we have to announce the sudden death of our wonderful son Ian Robert Lawson. Ian died tragically on Sunday, September 11th while at work doing what he loved – falling trees! Ian was an amazing son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He was our big boy (born Dec. 20/92 at 9lb 10 oz and a length of 23 inches and eventually size 14 feet!).

From day one he always did his very best at all he tackled whether it be his studies, playing his guitars, Lego and model building when little, soccer, skiing, drawing, reading incessantly, working on wood work projects, boating, fishing and hunting with his family and friends, spending time with his grandparents, bugging his brother and loving his special dog Sasha.

Ian always enjoyed spending time with his family and grandparents. Ian was a compassionate and thoughtful son, brother and friend who always took the time to help others. He touched many lives and had many wonderful friends. Ian loved to spend as much time as possible outside and especially loved going to our cabin at Ruxton Island. He had planned to get more time out there now that he had his own boat.

He was proud of his career as a faller and took his work very seriously (and talked about it incessantly to anyone who would listen as “the world isn’t going to log itself”!) His main wardrobe staple was becoming increasingly “flannel-like!”

Ian is and always will be our beloved bubballoo boy. He leaves behind his mum and dad (Fiona and Gary Lawson), his younger brother (Evan), Granny and Grandad in Victoria (Ian and Josie Young), his favorite furry friend Sasha and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family all over the world and many good friends of all ages. He was predeceased by his Nana and Grumps (Bob and Mary Lawson from Ladysmith).

Ian would have been 24 on Dec. 20, 2016. We will miss you, never forget you and love you forever our wonderful boy xxxxxxxxxxx Oh Ian, how can we live without you??????????

There will be a Celebration of Life for Ian for those close to him on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Painter’s Lodge from 2 to 5 pm in the Granny Painter’s Room. Please bring memories of Ian to share.
