We regret that Ian passed away in Campbell River BC on January 8, 2017. He was born in Matsqui, BC. He lived in Lac La Hache, Chilliwack, Woss and Campbell River, where he worked for various logging camps as a faller until his retirement.
Ian is predeceased by his parents Mary (Haines) and Eddie Monson, brothers Glen and Gordon Monson, sisters June Downing and Irene James, sisters-in-law Carol and Esther Monson and brother-in-law Richard Downing.
Survived by his wife Pat, daughter Angela (Glen) Smith, son Eddie Monson, granddaughters Amanda Monson (Phil McLeod) and Ashley Smith. Great-granddaughter Emily McLeod, brother Roy, many nieces and nephews, as well as stepdaughters Maeve and Laurie. Ian had six stepchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild.
There will be no service at Ian's request. A gathering to remember him will be held at a later date.
