February 28, 1926 - December 16, 2008
Helen is survived by her sister and brothers in France: Elise (Siglio), Rudy and Alfred. Mourning her death are her close friend, Rhonda McDougall and friends from Campbell River, Sooke and beyond. Born in Montigny-les-Metz, France, Helen immigrated to Canada (Ontario) with her husband, Bill, after World War II. Years after Bill's death Helen married Steve Wowchuk and the couple resided in the Mississauga area until their move to Vancouver Island in 1987. How to describe this tiny woman? Passionate. Hard-working. Feisty. Independent. My dear friend. Helen enjoyed gardening ("had a way with roses"), dancing, classical music, cooking and being with her beloved dogs (Monty I and Monty II).
