Anaka,

Harry

December 15, 1918 ~

November 17, 2006

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Pre-deceased by his daughter, Sharon, in 1948.

Left to mourn are Barbara, his wife of 62 years, and his children: Elaine (Trev), Donna (Gil), Linda (Garth), Michael (Judy), and Barbara (Rob).

His 13 grandchildren (Alton, Erin, Chris, Shawn, Jenny, Renee, Robbie, Nicole, Sara, Ryan, Matt, Cara and Ross) and his 10 great-grandchildren will all miss him dearly.

Harry was born in Gorlitz, Saskatchewan, and as a young man he ‘rode the rails’ out to BC to work on the highway along the Skeena River. He also spent time as a cowboy in the Cariboo and in the Merritt area where he met his future wife, Barbara.

Harry was in the army when he first came to Campbell River in 1944. Harry and Barbara built their home at Stories Beach where they raised their family. Harry worked at the Argonaut Mine and at the Elk Falls Pulp and Paper Mill where he finished his working career and where he formed many strong friendships that have lasted through the years.

For many years after he retired, Harry and Barbara wintered in Yuma, where many other lasting friendships were formed.

A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at the Campbell River Baptist Church, 260 South Dogwood Street on Friday, November 24th at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow in the Church Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry’s memory can be made to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation, 381 2nd Avenue, Campbell River, BC, V9W 3V1
