GOOD BYE
Gerry was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan and spent the first part of her life in northern BC – Pacific, Smithers, Prince George and Dawson Creek. Her mother was a concert pianist from Toronto and Gerry benefited from classic piano training.
Gerry attended Normal School in Victoria and taught at Doe River, Lake Cowichan, Kamloops, Montreal and Prince George. Her school choirs were popular. While in Prince George she met David. Two Children appeared – Robert James and Elizabeth Ann. Gerry helped to raise her little brother, Laurie, when she was only 10 years old.
The family moved to Grand Forks and then to Campbell River. Gerry always participated in musical activities, book clubs and discussion/study groups. Until the youngsters were 18 she supported their many endeavors including learning to drive. The family had a summer place on Hornby Island which became a part time home in later years. Many good friends in Campbell River and Hornby Island.
Gerry is survived by husband David, Elizabeth and Ian Mackay, Laurie and Lois Ross, Robert and Dianne Eldred and several grandchildren.
The family is very grateful for the care Dr. Alejandra Farias, and palliative care staff of Campbell River Regional Hospital.
A celebration will be held at a later date.
