Gavin Wood
November 22, 1929 – June 4, 2009
Passed peacefully in his home, with his daughter Sharon by his side, the evening of June 4, 2009. Predeceased by his beloved wife Gislina (Feb 4, 2009), Parents Clinton & Mary Wood, brothers Stuart, Arthur & Norman, beloved sons Brucie & Gavin. Survived by his loving children Sharon Treature, Mary, Wood, Cathy Ashcroft, Alan Wood, John Wood, Ross Wood, Chris Balzer & Sandi Balzer, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family & good friends.
Gavin was born in Comox BC, and spent most of his childhood in Courtenay and the Forbidden Plateau, where as a young child, with his parents, he guided guests on hikes & tours around the Forbidden Plateau Lodge that his Pioneer parents built, owned and operated for many years.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at Sutton’s Funeral Chapel, 502 S Dogwood St, Campbell River, BC on Saturday June 13, 2009 at 2 pm, followed by refreshments in the adjacent tea room. Visitation and viewing will be held at Sutton’s from 1 – 1:45 pm as well as following the service.
Gavin’s ashes will be placed, along with his wife’s, at Moat Lake, his treasured resting place, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are greatly appreciated. Memorial Tributes to the family may be left at www.MeM.com
