Ethel passed away quietly in her sleep at her home in Victoria on 24 Aug 2017. Born 28 Oct 1923 in Wayne, Alberta; the fifth child of Joy M. and E. Joy (nee Deeprose) States.

Ethel served in the RC Navy as a cook during WWII. After her discharge she settled on Vancouver Island where she married Albert C Hadley and they raised five children. The family moved to Sayward in 1967 until Ethel sold the home in 2003 and moved to Victoria. In Sayward she was involved with the Sayward Legion branch 147 and St. Philips Church.

Ethel is predeceased by her parents; son Donald in 1995 and her husband Albert in 1996; brothers Robert and John; sisters Ruth Patrick and Miriel Mason. She is survived by her children Debra (Ken) Parminter, Judith, James (Betty) and Patricia Mason, her brother Alan (Ivy), sisters Betty Tupper and Jean Hardy; her grandchildren Graham, Kendra, Jaime, Yvonne and Dale and great-granddaughter Alexandra.

A memorial service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Sayward on Friday, September 1st at 1:00pm.
