Passed away, after a painful battle with cancer. He is survived and will be missed by Laverne, Colleen, Wendy, Dale, Heather, Maureen, Karen, Sonya and Christine. He will also be missed by his 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Doug was born in Vancouver. After 6 years there, he moved to Chemainus, where he realized his musical talent at a young age, learning violin for years. However the accordion came to be his true calling and eventually he started playing in numerous bands throughout B.C. and Alberta, on radio and T.V. Later, he became a music teacher and was able to pass on his knowledge and passion for music until he was almost 80 years old. A cowboy at heart, he loved the wilderness and mountains and in his later years expressed this through his artwork. He was a character in true sense of the word.
