Donna Jean Wayling

September 22, 1942 - September 28, 2017

Donna Wayling passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus, her Lord and Saviour, on September 28, 2017.

Donna will be lovingly remembered by her husband, William (Bill) Wayling, her three children, Brenda Barthold (Steve), Graham Beatty (Coralee), Bryan Beatty (Jody), her siblings, Joan, Bob & Carol, as well as her 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Donna was born in Trail, BC to Ervin & Florence Messer (now deceased), September 22, 1942.

She attended school in Rossland, BC. After graduating from high school, she went to Victoria to study nursing at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. While in Victoria, she met Morris Beatty, who she married in 1964.

After finishing nurses training, Donna & Morris moved to Prince George, where they lived for several years before moving to Vancouver, where Donna studied public health nursing at UBC. They moved back to Prince George and then Terrace before eventually moving to Campbell River in 1978.

After Morris' death in 1981, she raised her three children as a single mom, until marrying Bill Wayling in 1987. Donna & Bill celebrated their 30th Anniversary on September 12, 2017.

Donna worked as a public health nurse and loved all aspects of her job. In the later part of her career, she specialized in communicable diseases and became an expert in the community that others looked to for advice and guidance.

She greatly valued the friendship of her colleagues and cared deeply for her patients, even stopping on her way to & from work to ensure that medications were being taken correctly.

She demonstrated her love of God and faith in all aspects of her life. She was a wonderful wife and mother.

She was a great cook and baker and enjoyed making people feel welcome in her home.

Donna's family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Senior's Home for the wonderful care they provided during the last months of her life.

Family, friends and others whose lives Donna touched are invited to the Campbell River Baptist Church on Saturday, October 7, at 1:00 pm.
