Charles Virgil York

July 23, 1908 -

December 6, 2008

Passed away in his sleep. He is survived by his brother Jack and sister-in-law Mary, 4 children, Bud (Frances), Con (Amy), Jean (Jim) and Lyle, also many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

He has gone to be with his wife, Olive Minnie Dafoe, who passed away 3 months ago, just after they celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary and Virgil's 100th birthday. They had a lovely day surrounded by all the people they have touched with their love during the years.

Virgil was always a very busy man, even at 100 he was out sweeping up the needles that fell on the ground. Virgil and his wife lived in Alberta, Vancouver and Oyster River. One of the things all Campbell Riverites will recognize is York Rd. Virgil built the road, he also built a sawmill up there that milled wood for lots of the homes back then. Virgil talked often of learning to drive in a Model T Ford and then teaching his Dad how. He was a farmers son sown to the bone, he loved to fix machines and he was quite an inventor. He will be extremely missed by all who loved him and we are happy for him to finally be with his wife again.
