It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beatrice “Betsy” Anne Theresa Foort (nee Nash) on December 12, 2016. Betsy will be deeply missed by her husband, Lawrence, her children Karen, Julie (Ken), Jennifer, and John (Myriah); siblings Monica, Mike, Sue, Peter and Dorothy; as well as many cherished grandchildren and friends. Betsy was born on October 24, 1940 in Vancouver and was the third of six children born to Dr. Everard and Gertrude Nash. When Betsy was eight years old, she moved with her family to Victoria where she attended St. Ann’s School for Girls and later Victoria College before heading to St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg to attend Nursing School. She graduated with a BSN in 1963. Betsy was a practicing nurse from 1964 to 1974 at the Alder Medical Clinic in Campbell River. With the birth of her third child, she retired from nursing to become a full-time mother. Betsy loved the outdoors and was a healthy, active woman who participated in many different hobbies, including: tennis, bowling, skiing, sailing, swimming, bridge and badminton. Betsy was also a lifelong blood donor and aimed to donate 100 times in her life – she fell short by just 3. Betsy was a gentle and caring soul who touched the lives of many and left a lasting impression on all that she met. She had a resiliency that encompassed her entire being and a love for life that shone through until her passing. A celebration of life will take place at the Campbell River Baptist Church on Feb 11 at 2:00 P.M. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
