COMEAU (NEE BRUCE),
BARBARA ANNE
August 20, 1935
June 21, 2010.
It is with sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Barbara. Barb will be missed by both family and friends. Predeceased by Eugene Comeau, Barb is survived by her children Nic (Catherine), Joseph (Diane), Patti, (Bryan), and Rob (Tina), her grand-daughter Emily, several adopted and step grandchildren, as well as many of her siblings. She is also survived by her oldest and closest friend Sheila Yahemech. Though she spent most of her life on the mainland, Barb's impact on Campbell River in the time she lived there is indelible. One of Barb's proudest accomplishments is, along with Max Chickite, Barb co-founded the "Transformations on the Shore" annual carving competition in 1997. However, illness took a toll on her mobility and she returned to Surrey in 2004 after more than a decade in Campbell River.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a local women's shelter
in her name.
