Alan (Al) Ross Walker

March 23, 1929 - February 27, 2010

'Just Passing Through'

With sad hearts we announce the passing of a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years Roberta (Bobbie), sons Ross (Ky) of Vancouver, Mark (Christine) of Delta, BC, Chris (Jeanie) of Courtenay. Grandchildren Amber, Trever, Tara, Melissa and several great-grandchildren, also his beloved four legged companion "Charlie".

Alan was born to Earl and Ellen Walker in Yorkton, Sask. The family made numerous trips to BC, finally settling in Vancouver. Later they chose Campbell River as their permanent home. Al was predeceased by his parents, brother Leonard, nephew Gary and step-daughter Cheryl.

Some may remember that Al delivered bread for the Pioneer Bakery during the 50's. Later he worked at Western Mines for a short period. In 1964 he became employed at the Elk Falls Mill, leaving in 1989 due to ill health.

Al was a quiet, gentle man, content to be a homebody, tending to his flower gardens and lawns at our home in Black Creek. We moved back to C.R. last year. He was a lover of animals, domestic or wild. He enjoyed good music (not mine) and at one time had a fine singing voice.

His schooling was sparse, but was an avid reader and was knowledgeable on almost any subject, especially Egyptology and English language, though his could be extremely colourful at times, with his sharp wit and dry sense of humour.

Special thanks to Larry & Colleen, Roy & Jean, friend Gayle, fellow musicians "Dan & Friends", Dr. McFadden, the nurses on the 3rd floor and many more. No service at Al's request. No flowers, please. If desired, donations may be made to the CR Hospital or the SPCA.
